According to the Association, the company acknowledged that the message in the post was incorrect. A teleconference between the two sides is scheduled for July 9.
The withdrawal of the misleading promotional video from Trivago’s official social media platforms, as well as the company’s apology, was announced by the Santorini Hoteliers Association in an official statement.
According to today’s announcement by the Association, Trivago responded promptly after a protest letter was sent regarding the content of the video, which, according to the island’s hoteliers, portrayed Santorini in a misleading and derogatory manner.
As stated in the announcement, Trivago’s general legal counsel sent an official response to the Association, expressing the company’s sincere apology for the discomfort caused.
The response reportedly acknowledges that “the message of the post was incorrect,” while confirming that the video has been permanently removed from all of Trivago’s official social media accounts.
“Corrective” teleconference on July 9
The Santorini Hoteliers Association further notes that Trivago’s management, seeking to take practical steps toward making amends, requested a meeting with representatives of the Association.
According to the Association, the goal of the meeting will be to discuss “specific ways in which Trivago can contribute positively and substantively to the proper promotion and international visibility of Santorini in the period ahead.”
The teleconference has been scheduled for Thursday, July 9, 2026, and, according to the announcement, participants will include Trivago’s CEO and Marketing Director, Jasmine Ezz, as well as the President of the Santorini Hoteliers Association, Antonis Pagonis.
“The truth, authenticity, and respect for the tourism sector and the island’s image remain non-negotiable,” the Santorini Hoteliers Association concludes.
