Santorini was a preferred choice for the Greek market this year, a fact that was strongly reflected in the occupancy rates of the island’s hotels, while this trend seems to continue in the first weeks of September.
Speaking to ERT News, the president of the Santorini Hoteliers’ Association, Antonis Pagonis, stressed that tourism professionals hope for a better picture of the movement of the next two months, which – as he noted – will contribute significantly to supporting the island’s businesses.
Mr. Pagonis also placed particular emphasis on the need for immediate implementation of the State’s commitments to Santorini. “The Greek state must put into practice what it has promised and not remain in theory,” he emphasized, sending a clear message that the sustainable development and smooth operation of the island’s tourism engine cannot be based only on good intentions but on specific projects and interventions.
