1. Oceanco’s 127m sailing yacht Y721 pictured on transport
Taking the top spot for October was the news that the yacht rumoured to belong to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos had left the shed for the first time. The 127m sailing yacht known as Y721, which is currently underway at Oceanco, was spotted a few days later on transport. The black-hulled superyacht, about which few details are known, is set to become the world’s biggest sailing yacht on delivery.

2. Video: 95m Lürssen superyacht Kismet arrives in London
In the second spot for October was BOAT’s exclusive video capturing the 95m Lürssen superyacht Kismet arriving in London. The yacht arrived in the capital following the conclusion of the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show. The superyacht, which features exterior design by Espen Øino and interiors by Reymond Langton, is owned by Shahid Khan.0 seconds of 10 secondsVolume 90%
3. New 24m Maori 80 superyacht Mama-G sinks after fire
The news that the brand new 24m Maori 80 superyacht Mama-G had sunk after catching on fire off the coast of Sardinia was the third most-read story in October. 4. Oceanco’s largest superyacht yet Y719 hits the water
The launch of Oceanco’s largest superyacht yet, the 119 metre Y719, was the fourth most read news story in October. The yacht hit the water at Oceanco’s Alblasserdam facility after being technically launched back in 2019. Y719 is currently the biggest yacht yet constructed by the Dutch yard but is set to be promptly superseded by Jeff Bezos’ in-build sailing superyacht Project Y721

5. Lazzarini Design reveals 69m superyacht concept with a hole in its superstructure
In fifth place was a 69 metre superyacht concept defined by a “gaping hole” in the middle of its superstructure by Lazzarini Design. Named Shape, the concept features a glass-bottomed infinity pool on the upper deck, which dips down into the hole.

6. Seagull-inspired trimaran concept Seaffinity revealed
Another concept features in the sixth slot, this time a seagull-inspired trimaran design. The 45m concept named Seaffinity was designed by French studio VPLP Design and features a hybrid engine powered by electricity produced by a hydrogen fuel cell.

7. Abeking and Rasmussen to build 120m+ flagship
Germany yard Abeking and Rasmussen announced in October that it had been commissioned to build a 120m+ superyacht that will become the yard’s new flagship. When complete the superyacht will become the largest ever yacht built by Abeking & Rasmussen.

8. Royal Huisman’s 58.5m superyacht Project Phi prepares for sea trials
Next up was the news that Royal Huisman‘s 58.5 metre superyacht Project Phi was preparing for sea trials ahead of delivery. The superyacht is due to be delivered later this year alongside its 36m shadow vessel PHI Phantom, which was launched by Alia Yachts in April 2021.

9. Scintilla: “Modern world voyager” superyacht concept with Scandinavian interior revealed
A 120 metre world voyager explorer yacht concept complete with a Scandinavian interior was revealed by Tillberg Design of Sweden in October. Named Scintilla, the yacht concept has outdoor living at its heart and is described as a “modern world voyager” for unlimited exploration by the studio.

10. 115m explorer Luna spotted in Gibraltar
Sneaking into the top 10 news stories for October was the news that the 115m explorer superyacht Luna had been spotted off the coast of Gibraltar after being in Dubai for the last two years. One of the world’s most famous explorer yachts, Luna was built by Lloyd Werft in 2010.
